The Linear Servo Motor used on a vertical axis will require a counterbalance to offset gravity. Without a counterbalance the motor will fall when it is de-energized. gLESS is a counterbalance mechanism which utilizes a magnetic force to offset gravitational forces of the vertical axis load.

Advantages of the gLESS counterbalance mechanism:

  • Motor will not fall when de-energized
  • Almost no magnetic flux leakage
  • Allows a compact unit design with a Linear Shaft Motor
  • Consistent balance at any point in the stroke
  • Non-contact, clean and maintenance-free
  • gLess versus a spring counterbalance: The spring force constant degrades over time while the gLESS counterbalance force will remain consistent.
