Nippon Pulse Unveils 10mm Rotary Stepper Motor

Jan 23, 2013

Nippon Pulse has introduced the PFC10 rotary tin-can stepper motor, the company's smallest rotary motor to date. The motor has a 10mm diameter, 10mm smaller than the previous smallest motor. A permanent magnet motor, the PFC10 tin-can stepper is a fit for small medical device applications, fluid dispensing, valve control, gaming machines, and other applications requiring a small rotary motor solution.

A 2-phase open-loop motor, the PFC10 features 1.0 mN•m of holding torque, a step angle of 18 degrees, 20 steps per revolution, a rated voltage of 2.7V, resistance of 20 ohms, 3.2mH of inductance, and a starting pulse rate of 960pps. The total weight of the motor is 5.0 grams.

A RoHS compliant motor, the PFC10 has a bipolar winding and in addition to its 10mm diameter, measures 18mm in length (end of shaft to back of motor) and 11mm in width (side of motor to edge of connector). The 'C' in PFC10 refers to a connector-type motor. Because the motor has a bipolar winding, the connector features four pins.

Nippon Pulse America, Inc. is a fully-owned American subsidiary of Nippon Pulse Motor Co., Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan. Nippon Pulse offers various controllers (boards and chips), drivers (boards and chips), and motors (tin-can, hybrid, and linear servo) that cover a wide range of motion control applications.
