As an all-inclusive stage, the SLP series integrates shaft support within the housing and simplifies the transition from conventional ball-screw systems. Because the SLP stage features NPA's linear shaft motor, it is a low-profile, high-precision product. NPA's linear shaft motor, which has been available for over two years, has three basic concepts. It is simple, consisting of only a magnetic shaft and a forcer. The shaft motor is also high-precision, taking advantage of its ironless make-up to offer zero cogging, while giving complete stiffness. Also non-contact, the shaft motor has a non-critical air-gap that eliminates variation in force over the stroke of the device.
