PCD45x1 Series Controls Two-Phase Stepper Motors

Nippon Pulse’s PCD45x1 series controller chips are programmable pulse generators that are equipped with an excitation sequence generator circuit that allows for the driving of two-phase steppers motors. The PCD45x1 series is a low-cost option and eases the user’s ability to configure a multi-axial motion control system. The PCD4541 controls four axes, the PCD4521 two axes, and the PCD4511 one axis.

The PCD45x1 series features a maximum output rate of 400Kpps, linear and s-curve acceleration/deceleration, a built-in 2-phase stepper motor excitation sequence circuit, and simultaneous start/stop.

Because this series has built-in sequence logic for both half and full-step modes, it can output CW/CCW pulses directly to drive chips. Among other applications, the PCD45x1 series is a solution in semiconductor manufacturing and inspection equipment, robots, analyzers, medical examination equipment, and automatic handling equipment

Nippon Pulse America, Inc.is a fully-owned American subsidiary of Nippon Pulse Motor Co., Ltd of Tokyo, Japan. Nippon Pulse offers various controllers (boards and chips), drivers (boards and chips), and motors (tin-can, hybrid and linear servo) that cover a wide range of motion applications.
